‘2018 marks the 34th year of activities to celebrate Older American’s Month’, announced Barry Jay Marks, Chair, AAA Advisory Council. ‘At this time, the community recognizes significant achievements and the contribution of senior citizens to the community.
The theme for Older Americans Month 2018 is Engage at Every Age. The theme emphasizes that you are never too old (or too young) to take part in activities that can enrich your physical, mental and emotional well-being and celebrates the many ways older adults make a difference in our communities.
What it means to age has changed. More than ever before, older Americans are working longer, trying new things, and engaging in their communities. They’re taking charge, striving for wellness, focusing on independence, and advocating for themselves and others. They expect to continue to live their lives to the fullest, and they’re insisting on changes that make that possible. Older Americans Month’18 is a perfect opportunity to recognize and celebrate what getting older looks like today.
