About the Senior Connection Program
Senior Connection is a specialized information and referral service for senior individuals and their caregivers. This program is provided by the Central Coast Commission for Senior Citizens to assist people looking for information on resources specifically for the elderly. It can be difficult to find information on senior services. We are here to help. The following functions are all ways Senior Connection can assist you in finding what you need:
Senior Info line – You can call us to get assistance identifying the services you need. Many people are dealing with issues for the first time and do not know what they need or where to look for help. Our staff and volunteers can provide a listening ear and help you get connected to the information and/or service that you are looking for. Whether it is help finding the phone number to the local senior center or figuring out what your care options are, call us (800) 510-2020 or (805) 928-2552 Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM. To contact an Area Agency on Aging in another location call 800-677-1116.
Senior Resource Directory or Senior Information Guide – These free guides provide information on a whole range of senior services available in San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara Counties. The guides are updated every two years to reflect changes in services and information. They are available throughout our service area, on our website and can be mailed to your home upon request. Click on the pictures below to view or download a copy (PDF Reader Required)
Lists of Home Care businesses, Residential Care Facilities, Senior Housing options and more – These lists provide information on services and facilities that go beyond what you will find in the phone book. The lists are updated regularly. Some are available on our website and ALL can be mailed to your home upon request. Click here to see the lists available.
Resource Library – Our resource library has over 300 different information pieces on a wide range of topics from consumer guides to Advanced Health Care Directive Kits and information on protecting seniors from abuse and scams. Copies of many of the materials are available free by either contacting our office or coming in to use the library.
Community Education and Outreach – Senior Connection Volunteers and staff are available to speak to groups about senior resources and services. They can provide specific information on topics like In-Home Care, Care Facilities, Support Resources and more. They can also come and facilitate group discussions or question and answer sessions about senior services. Call us if you are interested in having us come and speak to your group. Request a presentation.
